About ADI Base
Developed through day-to-day driving instruction to solve practical teaching problems.
For years, I arrived at lessons with pens, loose paper, books and a whiteboard among my teaching materials. They all had value, but no single option could move easily between a standard road layout, a real location and a completely custom example.
Pens ran dry, sheets of paper accumulated and books offered fixed diagrams that could not always reflect the situation a learner had just experienced. Drawing on a whiteboard worked, but recreating junctions and routes took time before the most useful part of the briefing could begin.
I wanted to keep the flexibility of drawing while making it faster to set out a road situation, move its different parts and return to the same explanation later. That practical need became ADI Base.
An instructor can arrange road users, add signs or markings, draw over the scene and save the result. The aim is simple: make the situation easier to see, give the learner more to engage with and keep the conversation focused on understanding and safer decisions.
Use a familiar layout, a real location or an open canvas.
Change the scene as questions, hazards and possible decisions emerge.
Save scenarios locally and bring them back when the learner needs another look.
ADI Base is an independent product created by Mihály Horváth, a UK driving instructor. It is not produced, approved, endorsed or operated by the DVSA, the Department for Transport or any other government body.
